HobokenGirl Weekend Events Guide: August 1 Edition

Happy weekend! It’s unfortunately going to be a rainy one, but that doesn’t mean it needs to be a boring one! Here’s your guide to things to do around town this weekend (and upcoming week)…

1. Ladies Night at Room 84 — Friday, August 1 at 9PM

 

$2 drinks before 11PM, $5 martinis all night. Featuring DJ Monte and no cover for ladies all night!

2. Rain Barrel Installation Workshop — Saturday, August 2 at 11AM 

The process of making rain barrels

The workshop will provide information on maintaining a rain barrel, including keeping it free of mosquitoes. It is open to all Hoboken residents interested in installing a rain barrel on their property. Participants will retrofit a 55-gallon recycled food grade plastic drum into a fully functional rain barrel and will receive a free rain barrel at the conclusion of the workshop. Register here.

“The Red Doors” always have beautiful vintage home decor, accessories, clothes, and more. This weekend they have many more new arrivals with a lot to offer! Swing by and be mesmerized by the beautiful vintage pieces!

4. Proto Intro Two Opening Reception — Saturday, August 2 at 6PM (at 66 Willow Ave)

Come visit the gallery this Saturday for a fabulous opening reception featuring many talented artists and fascinating exhibits. Some of the artists include Joianne Bittle {paintings and projected video}, Jason Godeke {theatrical still-life paintings}, Keikichi Honna {hand-blown glass stones}, Fernando Joffroy {plaster, paper, and found materials made into small-scale works}, and many more! Come indoors, escape from the rain, and bask in some beautiful exhibits!

5. Free Kayaking by The Hoboken Cove Boathouse: Sunday, 10am-4pm Maxwell Beach

Kayaking and paddle boarding on Sunday as long as there is good weather!

Wednesday, August 6 at 11AM — Grand opening of Common Goods (413A 35th Street Union City) which will raise funds for United Way of Hudson County to benefit neighbors in need who were displaced in the 6-alarm fire in Union City back in January.

Wednesday, August 6 – “Wednesdays Afterwork into the Night!” at Teak on the Hudson
